Working Weekend at High House.
30 members and their families took part in a very successful working weekend, with 24 of them staying on for the communal meal on the Saturday evening. Unfortunately, some familiar faces were missing, with Krysia looking after her father Ted who had recently come out of hospital, Peter Goff who was recovering from an injury, and Walter who was nursing an achilles tendon. Some members then stayed on to watch the Tour of Britain cycle race come over Honister pass on the Monday, with that stage ending up Beast Banks and onto Greenside in Kendal.
Mark and John repaired the stove in the large dormitory. Hopefully, people will refrain from hitting it with a hammer in the future.

	Meanwhile, work continued on the 'Time Team' excavations in the 'cow house' at the end of the large dormitory. The digging part of the work was completed, showing that the archeology runs out towards the shed, and the rest of the day was spent cleaning the uncovered work ready for final recording. The NT have instructed that the area be then re-covered with sand to preserve the archeology for future generations. Here, Mick is cleaning the stall area on the right of the central passage.

	Excavating the past becomes infectious, and attention has turned to the flat stone set amongst the cobbles at the front of the main building. Is it part of the original entrance?
The apple trees planted by the gate at the bottom of the track up to High House are bearing fruit: well one apple anyway!.

Mid-week Walk - Bram Rigg and Arant Haw, the Howgills
With Irene on baby duty in London, it was left to Graham to lead this walk in the ever delightful Howgill Fells. Meeting up by Howgill church, the six club members and one dog were supplemented by five non-club members and two dogs. Nodge and his wife Pam were members of the Oread club living in Lancaster and they had brought with them a friend called Laura. Hugh had brought with him two of his regular Wednesday walking pals Les and Norman.
On an improving morning, the route led up through Birkhaw Farm, over Bram Rigg Beck, and up Bram Rigg (photo right) to top out on Bram Rigg Top.
	Lunch was taken on the descent from Calders (photo left) before ascending onto the summit of Arant How via some nifty route finding by Graham. The group photo below on the summit was taken by Les. From left to right: Nodge, Norman, Roger, Frank, Hugh, Fred, Jean, Graham, Laura, and Pam.

	The group descended onto the Nab, and then via Crosdale Beck, Crosedale, and the 'New Road' back to Howgill Church. A cup of tea and cake in Sedbergh rounded off a fine days walk. Thanks Graham (and Irene!).
